The Importance Of Maintaining And Manufacturing Relationships

Maintaining and manufacturing relationships is one of the most stressful undertakings a human can experience. Humans crave relationships no matter how introverted; still wanting some form of companionship whether it be face-to-face or through technology. The only way to have a relationship is to have communication with others that start the stages of developing the relationship. Without communication in some form, we could never truly have a relationship or bond with another human being; causing that craving for companionship and relationships to never be filled and major physical and psychological damage to oneself. A common problem in communication or even starting a relationship is that most people report to be shy or have the fear of speaking to others fear of judgment or just anxiety takes over. I myself have this problem and find it extremely difficult to make or build a relationship because of my inability to muster up to talk to others. When I was in high school, every year on the first day of school I would sit in the back of the class so I could avoid the converse of others and when we had to introduce ourselves to the class I would get really nervous and stumble over my words. When others talk to me in a public place that I don’t know. I typically don’t talk and try to leave as fast as I can because I feel if I just stand there and ignore the person the whole time they are talking to me it will be ruder than just leaving. The journal chosen for this assignment, â€Å" International Journal of Education and Bilingualism† discusses the aspect of how one feels while conversing in a different language. The aim of the journal article chosen, â€Å" What has personality and emotional intelligence to do with ‘ feeling different’ while using a foreign language?† was to find a link, between the individual’s personality, emotional intelligence and feelings while talking in the foreign language. In order to test this, two sets of people were chosen who spoke Polish-English. The first set, were immigrants who had learnt the language after migrating and the second had been students who had been in the country for a considerable amount of time. The study focused primarily upon two†¦show more content†¦The participants chosen for the study, however, comprised of 102 individuals with a larger majority of females as opposed to males. The age range had been set between the ran ges of 17 to 58 years with varying degrees of educational achievements. The results that were obtained indicated that extraversion (a first order trait) had played a key role in identifying when an individual felt different while they were speaking in another language. Where as, the other first order traits like language proficiency, age and gender were irrelevant. Furthermore, the results had also shown that emotional intelligence (a second order trait) played an essential role in allowing individuals to detect when they felt different. It was concluded that since individuals who were extraverted, generally tended to be more open to new experiences and were more sociable they therefore were able to identify the change in their behavior and personality more adequately than for example individuals who were more introverted. Those people are considered as leaders who can communicate effectively and who are exciting, creative, enriching and inspiring. These people are leaders with cultural intelligence (CQ). According to cultural awareness, people should be aware about the cultures, beliefs and perceptions. So work can only be done, if people are aware of the social and environmental factors of the cultures.
